Have you ever had a time you were so sure you were working to make what you wanted happen, and it didn’t?NBC-Clash-of-Choirs-LiimuMcGill-Momstar.jpg

In 2009, a couple years after my appearance on Clash of the Choirs, I auditioned for The Voice and I put all my manifesting energy into it. I picked my song, I practiced it, I showed up and waited in line for five hours, and the entire time I visualized the outcome I wanted. When my turn came, I sang my song. I sang the shit out of that song. And then they asked me to sing a second song. And even as I was singing it, I knew it wasn’t the right song. So, part of me wasn’t entirely surprised when they told me they weren’t sending me through to the next round. And yet another part of me was completely surprised. I was devastated. I did everything I was supposed to do to manifest the outcome I wanted. I had the desire. I had the belief. Desire + belief = outcome, in the absence of limiting beliefs. Doesn’t it?

Well, it does and it doesn’t. What’s important to remember is that everyone, everywhere is manifesting, sometimes consciously and sometimes unconsciously. The Universe (Source Energy, God, Buddha, whatever you call it) has a lot of work to do, manifesting all these desires all over the place. And sometimes the outcome we want needs to come in a different way than how we think it should for all those manifestations to happen at once.

When things don’t go the way I want them to, it’s because the Divine plan is better.

We can’t always see the big picture, but we can rest assured that the Law of Attraction does work, and that as soon as we have the desire, the Universe has begun the work of bringing it about. I was at a recent workshop with Esther Hicks of Abraham-Hicks and, through Esther, Abraham explained that as soon as we have a desire, the Soul has the same desire. The Soul is connected to all Universal Energy, so it instantly has the information about how to bring the desire forth as manifested reality. The Soul and Universal Energy then send us hints and indications of how to follow our path to manifesting that reality for ourselves through our emotions. So, when we pursue happiness, love and joy, we are pursuing the path to manifesting our innermost desires.

So, what about those times when we are so absolutely sure that something is going to manifest the way we want it to and then it doesn’t? I like to think of those times as “breadcrumbs.” Breadcrumbs are not the actual manifestation of the dream, they are just the signs or indications that our dreams are manifesting, like when we are trying to manifest wealth and we find a $20 bill in the pocket of our jeans.

Sometimes breadcrumbs come in the form of disappointing news, things turning out differently than how we hoped. Our MomStar team recently submitted a reality show concept to a popular media company that promotes women’s voices.  We were excited about the possibility of working with them. When they e-mailed us to say they were passing on our pitch, I was disappointed and discouraged, but quickly remembered that desire + belief does always result in manifestation. That is the Law. So, I realized that just learning about the opportunity to pitch to people I respect,  who are gifted and aligned with our vision of supporting and empowering women, was a breadcrumb. And breadcrumbs are there to let us know that we are on the right track, that we are on the path.

We’re still working on our show, because the message of the Law of Attraction prevails: Just keep moving forward. Keep desiring and keep believing, and Divine will manifest the right things for you, maybe in ways you never expected, but always perfectly and always right on time.
